At the reknown 2024 Provada Fair in Amsterdam, Young Media’s Managing Director, Annemarie van Gerrevink, shared an ambitious vision for the venture’s future. Since taking the helm in October 2023, she has steered Young Media, a subsidiary of Young, through significant milestones and acquisitions. Established in early 2023, Young Media and has already acquired two media brands, demonstrating its commitment to building a robust media network.
Young Media’s strategy includes expanding its portfolio by acquiring special interest brands, aiming to develop a diverse network of at least 20 media brands within the next two years. “We really want to have a network of at least 20 media brands within a year or two. We are all working on potential acquisitions with a budget to buy special interest brands,” said the Managing Director.
VGVisie and Beyond
The acquisition of VGVisie, a professional media brand focusing on real estate, was a strategic move that aligns with Young’s primary “daughter”, Young Real Estate Investments. VGVisie exemplifies Young Media’s goal of producing in-depth and investigative content, whose daily news service aims to be delivered across multiple channels, including podcasts and newsletters, catering specifically to professionals in the fast-paced real estate sector.
A Personal and Professional Journey
Annemarie shared insights into her personal and professional journey. As a naturally born entrepreneur (started at 18 years old) with a passion for media and branding, she expressed how her creative inspiration comes from diverse sources, including books, podcasts, museums, and even daily life experiences with her two year old child. Despite having moved across different Dutch cities, living in The Hague for the past year has provided a sense of home and tranquility for our Managing Director, contributing significantly to her creative and professional endeavors.
Looking Ahead
Young Media’s future plans include broadening its scope beyond real estate to encompass public space media and other domains. Van Gerrevink highlighted the importance of placing experts at the top of each domain to drive growth and innovation. With her background in branding, she aims to establish a strong brand identity for each new acquisition, ensuring cohesive and impactful media presence. “We want to put a leader in each domain who will build that domain. And with that person, we will build and take over brands,” she explained.
